Would you buy a planter that utilises a small outdoor space, allowing you to grow vegetables, whilst at the same time reducing the number of planters needed to just one?

If you delete too much, people quickly lose interest. Legible spelling & grammer is needed... but it's not the most important thing in the world. Case in point: Yorkshire. :D

Uni Gem if i'm correct in the assumption you're doing product design? I would reccomend a wooden planter with blow moulded plastic pots that drop in and can be held up inside. I did this exact same project and got an A grade so if you need further advice about it don't hesiste to PM.

You must to think outside the box with the veg needed, for instance a lot of the larger veg won't work in your described situation. Try a shaped (possibly carved) wooden box with modules within it (roughly 5cmx5cm) made of some thermo plastic.. i suggest whatever you can blow mould with really. Roughly 5-10 of these 5x5, less if you need to economise space, fill em' with herbs. You can get module herbs for presentations and your display photos for roughly 70-80p a pop at morrisons and asda. Don't know about tesco. Use a small bag of compost and bobs your uncle.

Good luck, here is hoping you come in with a first.

Nicky re read what I've said. I think I was referring to the fact that peoples spelling and grammar should not be a bar to them posting as often as they please.  I hope that you have misunderstod the point I've tried to make.
The first part of my post was actually a quote.
Blimey   I can't do right for doing wrong these days.

Appologies I missed the quotation marks and did not see the oriinal post I just get very frustrated as not everyone is as gifted as others and what some take for granted others struggle with.

I am really sorry I jumped in and bit your head of Bodger I hope I am forgiven.

I also hope that the original author re thinks his/her opinions and broadens their mind to other people and other peoples abilities.

Hi Uni Gem, I think it's a great idea to do some research via the forum, and hope you find some useful answers here!

A couple of points I'd make about a planter which goes upwards rather than across, are firstly that it must be really stable.  Wet compost in the upper parts will be heavy, and it can get really windy on balconies or small spaces - you don't want it blowing over  .

Also, consider watering.  The smaller the size of the pot / container, the more quickly the compost will dry out.  This can mean twice daily watering in hot weather, particularly as some crops are very thirsty.  I've previously had those herb-type planters, where you plant in a cup-shaped pocket.  I must say I found them particularly hard to get on with, mainly because the water simply ran down the sides of the pot and out through those holes

Anyway, good luck with the project.  You'll have to come back and post a piccie of the finished design  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I'd think if you don't get way too much more votes on the NO than others, it's just because someone politically correcting messed up your poll for you.

so it's basically quite useless now. 8)

I think that Gem wont come back again, simply because she was treated so shoddily by some on here, and its a shame
The thread was obviously tidied up for that reason, and not for any political correctness that messed up any voting stats.
But peoples replies harked back to that even though the nasty threads were removed
Some people just wont think things through and let it lie

Gem? For what my two pennorth is worth...I think you should read most of the replies and see that there is support for your project ok?

Agreed, but it still does mess voting up, if that makes sense Ice?

Gobs, do you mean that if someone's post was deleted, and they had also voted, their vote will automatically be deleted too?

I don't know if that's how the voting system works, but I think that there's actually loads of useful comments for Uni Gem in the remaining posts, above and beyond the actual poll numbers.

How do you know that unless you ask? It would make more sense to actually enquire before making sarcastic remarks to the OP as has been done too often on this thread.

No, I mean such moves mess up where the votes go to. Rigging.  8)

Even if it was for the best intentions, it messed the pole up as people's first natural instincts were so brutal, they needed correction, highly unlikely it's going to pop up a real result, is it?

Its not a general election is it? The OP also wanted full input which would have been very helpful as Yorkie said
But sadly its degenerated into a petty argument over grammer, spelling and vote rigging.
Ridiculous and not like the usual AVG in anyway
