Can I replant my jerusalem artichokes ?

i dug them up today from their temporary position, we are going to eat some but i want to replant some, should i replant them in their permenant place straight away or store them over winter for planting in the spring?

Don't store them, but could do some safety ones in pots as slugs and mice or maybe squirrel can sort them for you out there.

I'm going to replant mine nowish. Not sure whether that's right but that's what I'm doing.

i'll put them back in at the wekend then, thanks. had some roasted with yesterday sunday roast, i wasn't that impressed so i think they will be for decoration!!!

Make chips with them - dice like carrot about 2mm thick and into a hot deep fat fryer until golden brown & crispy

You can plant your artichokes straight away, but about 6-8 inches deep so hopefully mice & slugs don't get to them. I've done the pot thing too - quite handy if a bed hasn't been prepared and they start to grow, but - you can't leave them in pots for very long as they have quite a hungry root system and start to grow tall rather quickly (the next problem would be how to get them to the plot if they are too big for the car ...). Worth finding a "permanent" bed for them as you are most likely going to have JAs growing where you missed the odd tuber

yes!! but i meant the plants that they grow into!
