Just noticed this thread.  I've one of those collapable boxes up stairs so guess what I'll be up to this afternoon with some left over seed.  For two years running I've planted about 20 different varieties and got zilch. Fingers crossed.

Did you put them in the greenhouse, Ice? I know your piccie was of them outside.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

They went straight inside DD.  There's still plenty of time for them to germinate and if others have already it might be quite soon.  Don't book that ticket to Brazil just yet.

I just went out for a thorough look and in the corner of one box is a seedling about a quarter inch long.

Mind you, it might just be a weed.

No it can't be a weed!!!!!

Tam - where do you have your carrots - looks like they may not get much light where they are?

There in a little 'greenhouse' which is attached on the side wall of the house. I can shift the trays above. I read about people putting silver foil behind indoor seedings to boost the light, do you think that would help?

As the official site advocate of the foil, (I use aluminium as I can't afford silver   ), yes, especially as one side is a wall.

Move them up & give them as much light as possible or you'll end up with weak & leggy seedlings/

 raided the kitchen draw and found aluminium foil. It started to rain as I finished but if there was actually some sun I'm sure it would be brighter now

Thanks :D
