Where do you get them from DD? I have just looked in T&M catalogue and can't see them.

There's a nursery not far from us that sells 90 different varieties!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

This year:
Earlies - Winstons
Lates - Pink Fir apples
We dug both up a bit early, i think, so the yields were a little less than they might have been. We also had dramatic foliage growth - as much as two metres per plant which was a bit of a surprise. The Winstons were ok baking potatoes, but not outstanding, whereas the PFA's were really amazingly good.

Next Year:
We've now got an allotment, so we'll be growing ~3 times as much area as this year. We're planning a lot of pink fir apples again, plus a couple of earlier cropping types to be decided - perhaps roosters and another.

Edit: missed page 2   I would recommend Pink Fir Apples pretty highly for taste, and our yield was pretty good, despite reading it might be underwhelming. We're considering the roosters primarily because we've had them from the supermarket, too.  :)

We aren't a million miles from Loughborough - if it was slightly northerly we could have a jaunt out so please could you give me name and location of nursery. As we live in the middle of nowhere we are used to having to travel for everything or else have it delivered.  :(

Brookside Nurseries
Cropston Road
Anstey

They've even got a web site......

http://www.brooksidenurseries.co.uk/home.html

They sell onion sets, shallots, peas, beans etc. all loose and far cheaper than your packet jobs.

Big advantage is you can pick out all the good looking sets etc. & buy EXACTLY the number of seed spuds you need.

Sadly it's south of us, so further away from you.

There is a Brookside Nursery near Poynton which is about 30 miles away so may try them.

I got my lottie very very late this season, so only planted Edzell Blue, Ratte, and four Shetland Black that had chitted themselves in the bottom of my fridge  :D
The Shetland Black were so beautiful - like little purple jewels. Tasted fab.
I liked the Edzell Blue best, even though they are a very floury variety. For next year, I've ordered the T&M heritage pack, which contains Dunbar Rover, Highland Burgandy Red, Mr Little's Yetholm Gypsy, Salad Blue, Skerry Blue and Shetland Black.
