manuring raspberries

I'm going to weed and tidy up my raspberries tomorrow... which won't take long as I've only got a few canes that went in this spring!

Is it ok to manure them now or do I wait for a while?

It's usual to give them a mulch of manure early spring, when the plant comes out of dormancy & needs the food. Any applied now will leach away over winter.

Be careful when you do it they have shallow root systems, yes you could manure now, I'd apply it as a mulch if the ground is nice and wet, make sure it doe's not touch the canes

Thanks guys....

I'll hold off with the manure for now.... can I give them a mulch of grass cuttings instead (I need to get rid of them somewhere - the compost can't take much more!)
