I came across some info which suggested planting a crop or some such,under another one, the idea being the one underneath feeding the other.Is this true or have I got the rong end of the stick.If true any suggetions?

Do you mean the three sisters thing?
Sweetcorn, beans climbing up the sweetcorn with squash on the floor under them? Apparently doesnt work so well here according to Johns book
