I posted a similar quiestion  while since....because we have 11 girls plus 2 ducks  all at differnt ages who free range together and now sleep together it means that they all eat together.... soooo layers all round.... but I do feel anxious that it doesnt have the right stuff in it for the 8 week olds?????  Have to say that none of them eat that much because they have an abundant outdoor supply of stuff at the moment....

Sorry only just caught up with this one.

What we do is put the chicks on chick crumb until 5 -6 weeks, then onto rearer (I think developer is the same thing, just different companies call it different name!) until 18 weeks then onto layers pellets.

But if we have a bag or part bag of anything left, I'll finish that off then start to put the next feed on top in the feeders.

The meat chicks get crumb then rearer until 1 week before they get culled when they go on to plain finisher.

We always use pellets rather than mash as the birds don't usually make as much mess with pellets.

lovely GA, thankyou.... I will go and have a look and see what there is in my local feed suppliers, if i can find some rearer or developer then i will go with that...failing that will stick with the growers and switch to layers around week 18...

many thanks everyone...

My bag of growers pellets said to switch to layers from 15 wks!! when we bought our 2 POL girls our little girls were only 12 wks but couldnt let the POL eat the growers because of the coccidiostats so they all went onto layers! didint stop me worrying that the little ones weren't getting the right stuff but when i compared the ingredients they were practically the same!!
thinks her guardian angel`s gone on strike !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
