Ive heard that you cant give hens fresh cabbage...... so are there any fresh greens i can give them ?

fed my hens loads of cabbage, which they loved, all last year, did think that the eggs were tasting of cabbage though and so I scaled it back.  Is this true that you shouldnt feed cabbage :?:  

My hens also love to eat grass, though I try and make sure it is not very long - surely if chooks were free they would graze on lots of free greens and no one would be cooking them!

My birds have always had cabbage, and they're all fine.

My girls get fresh cabbage, spring greens, cabbage hearts etc and they love them!

I feed mine cabbages as well. I have been cooking up all sorts for them, potato peelings, carrots, parsnips etc.

Another daft question, i have loads of Rhubarb still can i give them the leaves off the top?

Mine have never had the oppertunity to try so I can't say.

Mine get more or less every leaf that comes off the plot, grass cuttings seem to be a favourite  :roll:

Yeah we loobed some grass cuttings and it was like a feeding frenzy   .

Cheers Vember might lob a few in to see how they get on with them. A few every now and again seems to be the way to go.
