Well you are right. Dug them up yesterday and every single one has shrivelled up and died. Totally gutted all 30 gone. Looks like a bad batch or something so will be looking for a refund if I can..... total waste of cash they were.

I got 2 year old Gijnlim crowns from New Park Farm www.asparagus-in kent.co.uk . They say that I should be able to harvest for 3 weeks next Spring but let everything grow up after that. Subsequent years cut until mid June.
They lift the crowns in march and hold them in a chiller until dispatched. I did not get mine until May so they went into nice warm soil and I had plenty of time to clear weeds before planting.

I've found my site as it were, sunny spot and my soil should be pretty good, because although it does have some perennial weeds in it I can get rid of those and it's a lovely fertile silty loam.

Will take a look at that site Salmo, thank you.

I'm prepared to wait for the goodies though.
