Allotment site histories

This is one of my periodic attempts to encourage allotment sites to write their own histories. It does not have to be a huge tome ... some are simply 1-2 pages of A4.

There are usually a couple of people on a site who are interested in local history and it can make for a useful winter project when there is less to do on the plot.

That sounds good

Ours has a history from where it is now and where it started, being donated to the peasants by the local gentry (mine owners) Now the tide has turned and they're trying to take it back. I reckon it would be a worthwhile exercise to set it down, for the future generations. If indeed there'll be any plotters in the future

That's a very interesting link BAK,and as compostqueen says it'll be good to get some of the history's down before the property developers get their mitt's on some sites.

Our site celerbrated it's 90th aniversary this summer so I'll have a chat with some of the old boy's and see what I can come up with.
