3x Fruit bushes £1.99!
« on: February 12, 2007, 13:07 »
Just got an email through from the Aldi shop and they are advertising packs of 3x fruit bushes for £1.99!  Mixture of raspberry, blackberry, redcurrant, tayberry, blackcurrant and goosberry.  Sounds like a bargain to me.  Available this Thurday 15th.

They are up on the website too if anyone wants a peek.

Can I ask if anyone has bought fruit bushes from Aldi/Wilco's before please? Are they ok? The only reason I ask is it seems too good to be true when there are other places charging alot more.

Just want to make sure before I storm Aldi's at 9am Thursday

Yes I've bought them from wilco's before, their OK but check them if you can before buying I've found that the ones that are showing signs of growth look for buds starting to open etc grow better than those that have gone leggy. The earlier you buy them the better in my view, you also want to think about getting them in asap not sitting in the bags for a wek or two.
Also they tend not to have too big a root ball compared to those you would buy at a garden centre. But their ok with a bit of tlc.  :)

ok thanks.

I need to have a think then cos my fruit area isn't ready to be planted yet. (still covered in weeds and grass oops).

Do you think they would mind being potted up for a few weeks and then moved again?

They would be fine potted up no worries or you could just "heel" them in on a  spare bit of ground and lift them when you are ready.
