Great allotment, well done.
Did I see a ladder in one of your pictures and is it to aid planting from.
I have a old ladder in my garage and may give it a go if my guess is correct.

Yes,you did spy a ladder,I do have pretty heavy clayey soil so I never walk on it until I dig it over in Autumn.

Hence the ladder,I can walk on that and not compact the soil too much while weeding/planting etc...

Amazing!! We really enjoyed that and have decided when we move our poly to the new plot we will have plenty of small beds.  You have given us food for thought and have given us jobs for the entire winter.

Thanks vegmandan.   :)

I think I'm lucky with weeds.

The windbreak netting seems to stop quite a few seeds flying in and covering every single square inch of uncultivated stuff with planks, decking and ground cover material seems to help.

Oh, and using hand weeding to try to reduce my smoking habit helps, as I cant roll a fag with muddy fingers.

What sort of netting do you use for the wind break and do you think it reduces the wind. Up here in the Moorlands it is constantly windy and we could do with rigging some sort of break.

Oh yes It really does reduce the windyness considerably.

This is where I buy mine from.

Windbreak netting

It's not that expensive either. :D

My Red ones weren't much cop.

Got about 20 small ones and the rest bolted so I ate them when they were tiny.

It's my own fault as I didn't manage to get any heat treated sets and just planted bog standard ones, and they always seem to bolt with me.

A pleasure to watch and a credit to you, thanks for that

A picture paints a thousand words and all that....

It's about a lot more than eating cheaper isnt it?
