Should he stay or should he go?
« on: September 29, 2008, 20:11 »
Need help here! I mentioned to my dearly beloved other half -(we were counting birds) that I had named our tiny, undersized, runt pekin cockerel who had bad spraddle legs as a chick and as a result now has one deformed toe on each foot Arnie and that I intended to keep him!
He is not happy so I need a good argument to keep him, can anyone help?

Here is a little clip -he is basically half the size of a normal pekin I guess and around 9/10weeks old. Have had him since a day old he arrived as an orphan in a friends bosoms.

Ok you have absolutely no way you can get rid of him without missing him terribly. I can see he's full of character. You could say you can keep him as a cockerel as nobody would think it was one! Also he's a multi purpose bird. Easy to store (sounds like you nearly forgot he was there), easy to have fun with. Oh and you can make him ride your cat for adverts, he'll earn his keep.

He is so sweet and must stay.Nothing is perfect in this world but its the happiness he brings you.
We have a runt fish in our pond we got cheap his name is discount. The ugliest Koi produced which has become our favorite.
Take Arnie under your wing and enjoy him.

Arnie probably eats less 'bought' stuff than a full sized one when you factor in how much 'free' greens they eat. It's be cruel to get rid of such a character.

Oh and have you put any thought into breeding a new race of super fast mini chickens from him yet?

When he vowed in Sickness and in Health, just weeks ago, surely he knew that included the chickens too.

Men! Do you have to spell everything out for them?

I have relayed all your comments to "him" and he said......"20 foot and 6 inches...."

he not only agreed to keep Arnie(also known as Munty Junior) but it seems I have shamed him into agreeing to buy a new lounge carpet!!!!

So a huge thank you to everyone who believes in the spirit of the underdog!

What's his parentage? Are you sure he isn't a bantam? (Do Pekin's come in bantam size?)
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".
