WARNING man died after eating a bowl of 'super hot' chilli

He was supposed to be a keen chef and he used Dolmio !!!  :shock:

People die from eating peanuts,doesn't mean they're dangerous to everyone.

If chillies were deadly how come Mexico City is the largest city in the world......

FACT: Chillies are hot because they area form of mild poison, thats why the burn.

Like most poisons, theres an LD50 or toxic dose. Millions of people eat millions of chillis the world over with no ill effect, this is because they always eat well below the LD50, and after a while they become resistant to the toxins. However, if you walk up out the blue and eat , say 5lbs of raw chillis, it WILL kill you.

In exactly the same way that drinking a gllon of vodka in 30 minutes will also make you die of alcohol poisoning.

It doesnt even have to be a toxin. Try drinking about 2 gallons of water as quickly as you can. You will pass out and die in about 3 hours as you wee out all the sodium and potassium salts out your blood and cerebral fluid and your brain shuts down, like a battery with no acid.

You take a big enough dose of ANYTHING it has the potential to kill you.

And like I pointed out earlier, chillis have a head start, since they are already a poison.

This isnt rocket science, its common sense (actually, it basic biochemistry, but thats splitting hairs).
