Aunty Sal, i like the construction. Methinks i'll try that with some bottles and tubing before i go and buy one.

I think you mean Grannieannie rather than Aunt Sally  :D

Knight Family...sorry it's nearly dark now, as I read your posting and I'm out early in the morning so will post piccies on Saturday, sorry.

It sounds complicated but very simple really! Take a (empty!) 5 litre plastic water bottle, leave the cap on, turn it on its side and, with a stanley knife cut out an oblong window leaving enough overlap to hold the hens water. To hang, I guess you'd just make holes in the upper area but I find they remain clean and I replace them every few weeks.

auto watering

 hi all, begining of the year i set up an auto feeder,i think it cost me about £10-15,but they have fresh water on tap 24/7 on demand,

if you have access to mains water, all you need is a system ball cock a plastick container in the region of 24"/24" in size, a length of plastick guttering ,support brackets, and a length of poly pipe and couplings and away you go,about every two or three weeks i just get my 6" brush and clean the gutter out

i have the gutter about chest high of the hens fastened to a length of 6"-1" timber and about 12foot long.over the top of that it has a half apex roof all the way along the top of the gutter then the birds can only drink and not s--- in it.
p.s. this is only for the small bird keeper's 8)
