Try to bury/dispose of/burn any dead rats you find Annie since a friend's dog nearly died after eating a poisoned rat.

I've got rats as big as cats, by the  size of their runs, thank god I've not seen them!  They are in my compost bins. I've been feeding them blue stuff as well but they seem to just come back for more.
We need a good long spell of cold weather I think.

hi ,make sure you only bait up once a week because the poison takes a while to kill  so i was told at our allotments.
we have a rat problem at our allotments due to an old man who keeps chickens on our site and leaves bread around for any thing that cares to eat it  unfortunatly as he has had his plots for ni on 40 years theres a huge prob or there was till last year the council listened at last and employed a pest controll officer to help he was baiting numerous boxes once a week and it has taken a while but fingers crossed its worked .

I agree but the reason is that the rats will hoard the poisoned food elsewhere rather than eat it.  They only eat it when you stop putting it out.

Cold aint gonna hurt rats now days, they can tollarate most things including poison,.

If you manage to kill em just make sure you pick em up with a spade and burn em, they are full of disease.

little misconception there folks ,rats eat thier fill then carry back surplus to the runs ,i have prebatied spots on the farm and then shot them with air rifles most if left undisturbed will do that then return to the home if a rat has competition at a food source it wil fight off another rat until its fed usually when they congregate they will snatch and run  bit like me when im pinching ladies butts
still alive /............

Thanks for that muntjac.  I'm pleased to say that my experience with rats has been quite limited.  blooming things really make my skin crawl.
