No one is blaming you NP !

But until you can get the wire to get the new big run sorted out and find your cock some more ladies, they can have a lovely holiday with Doorman in more suitable conditions than they have now.

Good news for you, good news for them and you'll not be worrying about their welfare

Well done Darren, you've done the right thing.

Now you'll be able to concentrate on getting that big run sorted out :D

It's the best outcome. Well done Darren and Matt.

If there's any tips anyone can offer to make the run cheaply or free, now is a good time to offer them up !  :)

I can only think of looking out for rabbit runs on offer and using the mesh from them. Might be a few at this time of year.

I'm not sure the male/female ratio is any better with ducks. The resident duck experts will be able to point you in the right direction.

You wouldn't need a lot of water for them but you would have to change the water at least every other day, which gets expensive when you're on a water meter. :)

And it's hard work. Hope you manage to get the run sorted and can find somethign that suits you.

They look very happy  :D

Now NP needs some advice on what minimum size pond he will need for ducks to prevent it becoming a smelly mud bath  :!:

I think it depends on what breed and how many. If you can find out which breeds are more suitable and find out how many would fit into the area allocated, then you can source some sort of pool or bath.

An old bath, half sunk into the ground with a soakaway dug beneath the plughole might work.
or just a paddling pool but they can get very dirty very quickly. And once they get smelly after a couple of days, they can actually make the ducks ill. Needs a lot of careful thought and planning, but that's what we're all here to help with. :D

Ahhh they look real good NP :D

What type of Ducks did you have in mind?
Are you after a good egg layer or does that not really matter :?

If your after a nice pet duck the Call is fantastic and they don't need very much water :)
Egg layers obviously Khaki or The Runner :)

Pictures of my Call's & Runners

My male Call is just getting his green head :)
