am sure there was blood in nest box

guys do or can hens bleed when they drop an egg , today when cleaning out my nest boxes { seed trays an they really work my girls love them } i noticed what seemed to be blood in one corner of the box :?: :?: i was wandering if its possible for them to bleed at all.

i cant see any injures on the girls or blood anywhere else and i clean my boxes out each day an this is the first time i have seen it , over the weekend i am going to clean my houses out an spray them with red mite .i am puzzled :?

I know it's not quite the same 'cause Crumb is a Goose but she bled the first few times she layed, but I only know that because it was on the egg.

Have any of their eggs been bigger than normal?
and is it just a little smearing or like a clot type thing, Aunt Sally has sometimes mentioned a small piece of is it gut linning passing out with a poop??

Mine also bled a little on the first eggs but have never seen anything else. Is it definately free blood and not inside tiny red mites?

Could it perhaps have been a mouse that one of them has killed?? Just a thought....'cos if it moves then chickens will kill it...or try to!!!!

I went in my coop one day and there was blood spattered up the wall and quite a lot of it :shock: :shock: I checked everyone over and not an injury of blooming orifice in sight :oops: so I go with Aggies idea, sound plausible to me

thanks for the response guys , there was no blood on any of the eggs and it was only in this one corner :? . although today when i checked for eggs there was quite a bit of blood on the perches above the trays looked like one had cut open thier feet an trod the blood in . i've checked the girls over the best i can and there seems to be no signs of injuries an no ones limping .
maybe there could of been a mouse but then surely blood would be all over the floor as well :?: .

am going to see what happens tomorw and if there is any more blood like today then a friend of mine is going to help me catch them all one by one an give them a good checking over just in case , i know the girls wont like it but it may have to be done .
