Hi Violet.

You're dead right. One pinch per hen, by whatever means you can  :)

Repeat for 7 consecutive days. As far as I know it's fine for ducks, but someone will confirm before long.

It's safe to eat the eggs during treatment for your own use, but not sure you can sell them.

You're getting like batman  :batman:  sarah. Just when someone needs an answer, you appear, give the right info, and disappear off into the night  :D

I ought to think about doing ours again. But without any symptoms, I'm loathe to mess with them.

Has anyone any ideas how to give Flubenvet when your hens won't eat anything but their pellets. I've tried giving grapes and corn but they eye up anything with great suspicion and won't hand feed at all.

Thanks Belinda :)

I mix mine with a little oil and pop it in a syringe then do each one, that way I know they're getting it. But you have to mix it really well and use it straight away, if left even for 5/10 mins the flubenvet settles at the bottom of the syringe.

Apart from that do they like mealworms ????

So you mix a pinch with a small amount of oil for each bird for seven days is that correct? Mealworms is the next treat to try on my list :D
Thanks

Mine snatched the 6 grapes I prepared and ran round the run with them. I think 2 got 3 doses each !

So I followed plan B. If you weigh out approximately their day's food in pellets, then mix the appropriate amount of flubenvet with a handful of pellets, then mix that handful in with the rest. This ensures a good mix.

If you do this each day for 7 days, they'll all get the right amount. If they run out of the medicated food early, you can always top up their feeder with more unmedicated pellets and start again teh next day.

...and I found I couldn't get a syringe into their mouths without help. :?

Vember's gang seem very docile and contented compared to our hooligans.  :)

Ok now a really stupid question I have no idea how much they eat a day I just make sure they have plenty of food :? They are Bantams so don't seem to get through loads of food.

I would have thought about 75-100 grams each, but you could always dose up a smaller amount to make sure they get the full dose, then top up after.

But if they're fairly co-operative, the mealworm or syringe method may work. I just found it easier to mix up in the food and then it didn't involve me havign to force anything down them. It just sticks to the pellets as a very thin covering of powder.

Ye that's what I do,  just open the beak an pop it in, they can struggle a bit, but having done the it the other way for 3 years & then finding a poop with alot of worms in I figured this way I knew they were done proper :D

The other thing to point out is if you have a few hen's the food mixing works really well, I think my problem was with so many I couldn't tell for certain who was getting what :D

Thanks very much I will definately give that a go. Think I may mix it with the food as they are still a bit nervous of me but coming round gradually :) Plus I only have three.

If they only eat pellets then giving them flubenvet is very straight forward.

just follow the instructions here:
