Compost question
« on: February 07, 2007, 13:17 »
I was emptying out the Dyson into the dustbin and wondered if the contents  (dust, dry mud, general filth & cat hair) would be a good thing to add to the compost bin?

Has anyone done this ?

Feel free to shoot me down in flames if this is not a good idea  :tongue2:

According to the literature that came with my compost bin, yes if you have natural carpets no if they are man made as the fibres don't break down but pet hair (or human hair if you cut it at home) is fine.

And the odd bit of Lego won't do much harm!

Our manure heap takes everything from the stables and all the yard brushings!  It's quite entertaining to dig the muck out again and find that long lost plastic gadget quite unscathed in a forkful destined for the raspberries!!!!

Talking of manure, it amazes me how many grooming brushes I find when I collect my supplies. Must cost the stables a fortune.
