help, advice please on tomatoes!!

i had to pick millions (yes millions, they are as bad as the fliping courgettes!!

) of green tomatoes as they were all overgrown and on the ground (oopphhs happened whilst we were on hols!!), i have stacks of green toms now everywhere!
whats the best way to ripen them? on windsills? im sure when i was a kid my ma and pa wrapped them up in kitchen roll and put them in drawers!!
def dont want to waste them!

In a drawer or cupboard with a banana usually works well .(Ripening is controlled/brought on by ethene which they will give off)

Did mine last year on windowsills and trays on the table and they all ripened ok.

This was talked about the other day. Try this link http://www.chat.allotment-garden.org/viewtopic.php?t=23435 to see the advice there. As Pushrod says, it's a chemical reaction thing. I put mine in a paper bag with a ripe tomato and away they go!
