« on: August 31, 2008, 22:05 »
Can anyone help???? my likle girlies (15+wks) hatched at my pre school and weren't vaccinated against  anything such as merecks or salmonella!! The hatchery said that for a small flock it wasn't necessary!? I'm not so sure after reading all these horrible things that poor chookies can get! can anyone tell me if they vaccinate their chicks they have hatched????? also is there anything I can do about it now?? :?
thinks her guardian angel`s gone on strike !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only large breeders vaccinate as it is only available in large quantities, something like 1000 bird packs.

VACCINATIONS!!
I've been looking up vaccinations again, and the prices seem to be coming down a bit, so I think when the next lot of POL chicks come in, I'm going to vaccinate!

The hatchery do the Mareks when they come out of the incubators, so I'm going to get the Avian TB one, the Newcastles and infectious bronchitis.  All these three can be given in the drinking water according to this catalogue I have, but it doesn't say anything about Salmonella.  My research continues!!!!

Not that any of my birds have ever come down with anything, although 2 Babcock's that went to a couple in the village are sneezing a bit and one of their Silkies has just died and it sounds like mycoplasma.  I told the man about Tylan and said to ask the vet about it, but he just said oh but the vet will probably say take it in........
