OKso here`s my tomatoes taken 22-08-2008.After i spent some time pruning it.Please tell me if it ain`t supposed to be like this but the leafs where blocking the toms at the back from getting any light and plus they look as if they were dying anyway.

Am very chuffed with these because they have been growing for bout 6 months.:D

Prunings a bit drastic mate ! we all have different ideas but I tend to leave the leaves on they produce food for the plant to make the fruit. I only remove leaves if they are dying or diseased.

Welcome to the forums BTW.  :D

         ....sorry but it made me laugh! Was a tad drastic....perhaps next time leave a few leaves on as Richy said just to give them a bit of energy. Looks as if they are ripening well though!! :)

Mine the total opposite! I can't even get into the greenhouse.  I'm kinda living in 2 place at the moment and not paying very much attention to the toms!  I had to cut down some branches today before I could fine the ripe toms.  Hence why I have been making green tom marmalade.

I think we need to go for the middle next time Carl!

It did give me a giggle though

I ended up taking mine off the plant as the little pests wouldnt ripen and I was worried the slugs would get hold, didnt do great on the toms this year which was disappointing as I had plans to make chutney  :(

I didnt get a big enough harvest the only thing in my garden that got a good feed were the bugs   never mind will try again next year. I made beetroot, apple and runner bean instead and then I made my first ever jams  :D

Loads of time yet. I've had a good 6lb + easy of ripe ones off already, the greenhouse looks like a scene from day of the triffids

And don't forget you can ripen the last green ones indoors to lengthen the season afore we go back to the nasty supermarket ones  :(
