Hello to everyone

Hi there

I'm a newbie on here, so please bear with all the stupid questions!
Was bitten by the chicken bug last year, and started out with an eglu and 3 chooks. a month later 3 became 4, my whole back garden became a giant chicken coop and now 4 have turned into 6 - I am being forcibly kept away from those chicken auctions now!

One question, this morning I had 7 eggs -  a first here, but one was about the size of a quails egg! I know it was laid by one of my welsummers due to the colour of it, but mystified as to the tinyness of it! any ideas?

Lovely to meet you all after reading your forum for so long!

I had one of those once. It did not have a yolk in it. It just seems to happen sometimes.

I had a very small egg - funny enough from a wyandotte bantam - Auntie said they are called wind eggs if they have no yolk but mine was perfect - just minature!

Whats the recommended boiling time (for a soft yolk) with a fart egg?

mmmm if its half the size of a normal egg about half the time I guess...only be a bit wary as its a fart egg you dont want it exploding!
oopppss sorry that was a bad yolk!

You wouldn't want to run the risk of a wet fart egg would you ?

I've always associated these really small eggs with a hen either coming to the end of lay or sometimes starting. A sort of an end of the production line sort of thing. :D

It was indeed a 'fart egg', and no yolk either!

Not enough to make a decent meringue in it though....
