:D

I've been clearing out one of my compost bins and its full off the small red worms you get in good compost heaps.
Is this the best time to use the compost. ie. when still full of worms or should I wait till the worms have finished doing their stuff.  Any opinions on that please?
Nice to have a bit of frost to break up the soil and kick some bugs into touch.
As the great Percy Thrower used to say
" OI THINK THE ANSWER LIES IN THE SOIL"

the worms will be brandlings and you just use the compost as and when you want .. if you have started a new bin then it wont hurt to shove a few shovel fulls of the old stuff into the new  worms and all ,,, incidently great angling bait ,, 50 worms for £2.50 in tackle shops here at the minute

and a great welcome to the gang compo

Basically, just ignore the worms and decide if the compost is ready for the use you want it for. When the compost is ready, use it, worms as well. They will remain to finish their job in the new location.

I don't believe in holding onto compost any longer than is necessary nor have I ever found the need to introduce worms to a new pile. They always appear like magic. If you are using compost for top-dressing beds or digging in, this does not have to be so finely decomposed as would be needed to make potting compost.

Thanks a lot for the welcome and the advice on compost, brilliant site. Been looking for a while now, but first time posting.
Ideal weather today for digging compost in. just enough frost on the ground to keep it firm.
