Allotment versus Home Alone....
« on: February 02, 2007, 19:25 »
It's a funny thing -  I KNOW I am priviledged to own my own garden (and a few acres of trees & field) but I also feel a little envious of those of you who garden on allotments....  I would just love the chance to look over someone's shoulder to see what everybody else is planting now!!! 8)

On the other hand when I try something experimental - there's no-one to notice when it doesn't work!   :D

I wonder how it all weighs up on balance.  What do you think?

Sal

Ps The best bit of 'home alone' gardening has got to be the ability to wander out into the garden on a summer morning, mug of coffee in hand while still in my PJs !!! & there's no-one to notice.
Sally (N.Ireland) Organic as far as I know!

Plant plenty.  Celebrate success.  (Let selective memory deal with the rest.)

Yep, mel is right, this is your new virtual allotment!

The only thing we can't actually share is a nice cup of coffee, but like you, I am on my own with my garden patch, and although I do have an OH, I try to ignore him because he actually knows less than he thinks, and last year to shut him up, I planted everything closer than they should be and got bonsai of all my brassicas.  My brussels were were marbles!!!! So now I just say yes dear and carry on as I feel, and if I have a problem, I come up here to my computer and ask the experts!!!!

I have considered this   but haven't done it yet..... I suspect the nearest ones to here probably require a key to get in.....!

Must ask my sister, she has a friend of a friend who has a plot there!... Might be easier to just keep asking here!

Keep the photos rolling!

I've got a large garden in which i grow my veggies and fruit.  However, i've know run out of room and waiting for the local council to get the first ever lotties up and running so i can pop my  name on the waiting list.

HI SALLY,both options have their own merit, but the lottie for me is a social thing, however there are times when i want to get on and dig somebody else wants to talk.
