Soil advice!!
« on: August 19, 2008, 14:52 »
My lovely crumbly moist soil that i had earlier on in the year has now gone a bit sticky and clogs quite easily.  Should I expect ths given the rain we have had recently?
On a positive note i have just pulled my first carrotts ever and harvested some peas again something i have never grown before.  The taste is unbelievable, just think never having to buy from a super market again
PS the soil is ok around my veg but the pathways inbetween where i walk are the problem.
JUST BECUASE YOU'RE PARANOID, IT DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE NOT AFTER YOU!

Air is what helps makes soil crumbly and between the rain and walking on the paths, you've squeezed out all the air temporarily. To revive it, when the soil dries out more, you'll have to rotovate or dig it up to loosen. Or, lay slabs on the paths to avoid the sticky shoe soles problem.
