Potatoes blighted...
« on: August 16, 2008, 11:07 »
I came back from two weeks holiday to find all my potatoes blighted    Have dug up all the Charlotte but have all of my Rooster (reds) and Pink Fir Apple still in the ground.

I've cut the foliage right down so is it a good idea to lift and store them or should I leave them in the ground  :?:  I don't want to lose all my lovely spuds...  :(

Leave them in the ground for at least a week (two is better) then lift and check if they are infected. The blight starts in the leaves and then travels down the plant into the tubers. If you catch it quick enough it will not have got into the ground (like I hope mine wont have)

Good luck :)
