Ideally carrots would like a light, sandy soil, stone free & not manured the year before.

Then I'm lost.

I've not grown carrots in Turkey before!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I have a Franchi Italian seed packet for some nantes type carrots (an early variety) they give instructions for the whole of europe and the middle east:

If you are in a meditteranean area of Turkey sow between Feb and June harvest between May and October

If you have a middle east climate sow between jan and march, and/or Aug to Dec. Harvest Dec to June.

hope this helps

I grew these in a plastic dustbin in the garden.  Sowed into multipurpose  compost then just left them to it, watered every so often. I'm really  plesed with the results and will do more this way. The variety is autumn king.

The ones I did on the plot, I fleeced as soon as I sowed. They also did brilliantly. Soil was well dug, till it was deep & crumbly.

Same here - grew the lot in containers in multi-compost....LOTS of carrots, and I also forgot about them & left em to it.
Dunno about Turkey, but if you sow at the right time I don't see why not?

LMP, your carrots look good enough to eat

Thx everyone for all the replies, v helpful.  Got Nantes variety seeds, think I'll sow early Sep in the ground, create a 2 foot barrier & see how it goes.  If successful will plant in spring too.

I read that they don't like being transplanted i.e. grow seedlings in conservatory then plant out.  They prefer to grow in situ.   Can't remember where I read this but apparently also causes forking and weird shapes as does as manured ground and stones.    Don't know if true or not but as I haven't yet managed to achieve a straight carrot and I often do transplant I am going to try straight in ground where they grow next year.

Is that like the peat pots, found as others they go mouldy on me. It's ok  I'll just put them in the ground.

A friend grows her carrots in an old bath so that the carrot flies cannot reach them.  Says it works really well so if you're planning a new bathroom .....!
