Hi, ytyynycefn,

Ignore those two. They are great fun and make me laugh a lot but only 25% of what they say is anything to do with plants - the other 75% is a battle of the brain - or is that brawn?? about each other  (sorry guys  ) Mind you what they both say about plants is worth listening to.

You don't  need to manure the whole area and thats probably a lot of manure. I chuck pelleted chicken manure down, hoe it in all over the place except on the brassicas and everything grows like mad. :D  I am gonna manure about a third of my plot every year - in line with my crop rotation and so far it seems to work.

Good luck.

Think Munty and Shaun should get together and do a podcast for the site or summat...  8)

Well, I had a very productive day on the plot - I've spread manure all over the squash bed and started to fork it into the soil.  I've also shifted a couple of barrowloads to the legume bed ready to dig in when I've got the energy.  I didn't use anything at all last year as I got the plot quite late into the season, so I figured that more would be best this year.  I've got enough to do the whole plot, so will do that and get fresh to start my hotbeds with.  The root bed gets the sparse amount of compost!  Oh, and I lashed together a fence after the wind blew all my zincs down  :?

Today's injuries - a bashed thumb (big hammer), cut face (corrugated iron), gouge out of my leg (angle iron).
