A 2lb onion this year...

Or even to just eat one single ripe cherry from my tree before the blackbirds eat 'em all.

I'd like to grow a huge leek. Every one of mine seems to grow to pencil size and stay there.

This is the true story of the superfluous threads...

When I first posted, it just wouldn't go through & came up "This page cannot be displayed" - TWICE!

I went back to the forum, refreshed the page each time to make sure that it wasn't there & tried for the third time.

Even then I checked to make sure there was only one post, so I don't know what the **** is going on!

That's my story & I'm sticking to it!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I wish I had more space to grow what I want; mine is larger than the average backyard but not all is useable (large septic system, many 90 yr old tree roots, racing pigeon lofts, heavy shade, OH's sitting area, areas that are ridiculously poor and rocky for growing as well as too far from water   )

fennel bulbs (instead of fennel stalks which is all i have managed this year!

and a cauliflower thats bigger than a golf ball - i don't think the few that out there are going to get past that sadly.

edit:  after seeing a post below i was reminded of how many gooseberries i picked at the PYO this season,  so i don't think one bush of my own would be enough!

Fruit bushes; ie raspberries, gooseberry and blackcurrant.  Would also like a Victoria Plum tree.  Did`nt make time this year as busy trying to sort out my new plot.  Hopefully next year I will be able to start some of these.

Peas, flowers, and willow fences. My goals for next year. Oh, and spinach that doesn´t bolt, and brassicas that are self-fleecing so they don´t get eaten  :(

Carrots that germinate!  (Well I have had some success with growing them in tubs but its frustrating because I'm sure I could grow more in the ground.)

Other than that, I'd like my cape gooseberry to fruit.  I'm growing that for the first time this year - and I'm impatient.

We all know that vegmandan wants to grow a 10 lb onion.

What's your ultimate aim?

Me? I'd be happy with one swede.

I did it!

I'm happy to announce the safe arrival of my first swede, weighing in at 3lb 9ozs! May not be the prettiest offspring, but it's mine!

I'd like to grow anything that is edible!

I have planted garlic, broad beans, raspberry canes, and some carrots. Onions go in this afternoon.

Any success at all for my first year, and I will be happy!
