i planted my parsnips (and radishes) in the ground at the weekend on the usually sound advice of my grandfather (been growing things for a million years), but I can't help thinking it's a bit early. i'm sure we didn't start planting them til mid feb last year.
has anyone else put their seed in yet?

when ya do mix the soil with a few handfuls sand ,n then sow ya seed go down about 12 inches this will help ya snips send a deep root down

another way i have been told if the ground is a bit heavy is stick you spade in the ground to form a slit waggle it back and forth do a row like this,fill the formed slit with compost/sand mix and sow on the compost.
never tried it my self but it sounds ok.
still a bit early i think for sowing them now end of feb early march for me

i always sow my parsnips, end of march, begining of april, never had any probs.

i thought it was a bit early. well, it'll be an experiment now then. bets on whether ANY will germinate

Sowing in April reduces the incidence of canker, downside is that it also reduces the size of the parsnips
