Yellow marks on kale
« on: August 07, 2008, 18:14 »
I have blue vates curled kale, red russian and nero di tosca, all growing really well but now they are all getting yellow sort of bubbles on them.  I have been trying to cut the affected leaves straight away, but if I leave them they get a sort of white powder in the 'bubbles'.  I assume it is some sort of desease, does anyone have any suggestions please as I don't want it to spread any more, and are these leave safe to eat if I cut the yellow bits off?

Thanks
Ali

hi alipally
this is quite possibly ringspot which is a disease of most brassicas and is worse in wet weather and dull light.not a lot you can spray on , you could try sb plant invigorator as this has natural fungicide elements in it, also trim of the infected leaves and dispose of them. one of the main causes is lack of air circulation caused by close planting, the spacing should be 750x750mm
hope this is soe help to you :)
