What can i start to do now to prepare for growing over winter? I would ideally like a list of everything i could possibly do to pick and choose. Also - what can i put in August when after I've picked my peas, pulled my beetroots & carrots.

Also should i earth up my leeks now which i'm going to overwinter with my onions.

That's rather a big ask    :o   I don't think there's enough space on the page for "everything"  :shock:

Firstly, have a look at Celtic Eagle's reply here for what you might wish to sow / plant over the next couple of months for overwintering.

You can still sow salads until late autumn, I guess.  Someone else might know whether it's too late for spinach (whether perpetual, chard or any other sort).

As for tasks this month, I suggest you look at the advice section of the website - John's month by month guide - or even get his book as a starter, as it does what it says on the tin (and very well too) - 'Vegetable Growing Month by Month'
