Figs - any suggestions as to what to do with them?

We have plenty of figs on our tree, and out neighbour has a massive tree too.  Other than eating them (hubby hates them so there is only me) or making fig jam or drying them (I don´t like either) any suggestions as to what I can do with them?  I am sharing them with the hens :D

a recipe i love is your bog standard bake well tart with figs cut in half and put around the edge and one in the middle bake as normal the flavours really go nice together ,

fresh figs with prosciutto salad ; figs, ham, and rocket tossed together with a olive oil 4 tbsp, 1 tbsp fresh orange juice,1 tbsp of clear honey,and 1 small chilli put first 3 in a small screw top jar and shake until emulisifies into a thick dressing then add the chilli and drizzle over the salad serve at once  :)                                                                                             or baked figs oven 180,340,gas 4 peel figs and arrange them close together on a baking tray,sprinkle a spoonful of vanilla sugar over each one,bake for 5 mins and then place under hot grill for 2/3 mins the figs will excude a lovely pinkish syrup and their tops should be covered withh a crust of sugar,you can have them hot but they are really nice chilled with either cream or vanilla ice cream,                                               i'm really jealous now i love them and weather in wales has not been to kind to figs this year although my trees have lots of second crop and if we have a good sept i might be lucky  :lol:

i had a nice fig and balsamic chutney once, went really well with a good goats cheese.

I'm afraid that I cannot help with a recipe for figs, but there is a very beautiful and extraordinary poem about the fig, by D H Lawrence. It goes like this:

The proper way to eat a fig, in society,
Is to split it in four, holding it by the stump,
And open it, so that it is a glittering, rosy, moist, honied, heavy-petalled four-petalled flower.
Then you throw away the skin
Which is just like a four-sepalled calyx,
After you have taken off the blossom, with your lips.
But the vulgar way
Is just to put your mouth to the crack, and take out the flesh in one bite.
Every fruit has its secret.
The fig is a very secretive fruit.
As you see it standing growing, you feel at once it is symbolic :
And it seems male.
But when you come to know it better, you agree with the Romans, it is female.
The Italians vulgarly say, it stands for the female part ; the fig-fruit :
The fissure, the yoni,
The wonderful moist conductivity towards the centre.
The flowering all inward and womb-fibrilled ;
And but one orifice.
The fig, the horse-shoe, the squash-blossom.
There was a flower that flowered inward, womb-ward ;
