There are three signs of old age. The first is your loss of memory, the other two I forget.

You're lucky.  I'm thinking about building a v.small pond to attract some of those to help manage the slugs.  I've been told they are the best thing for them!

I was given an organic slug killer recipe yesterday.  Boil three crushed garlic cloves, cool and strain.  Make up to two pints.  Add a couple of spoonfuls to your watering can and water on.  Makes sense to me as it seems a homemade version of Scotts Garlic Barrier.

it our plot we have loads of frogs, at least 3 big ones, and 20-30 smaller baby frogs. our lettuce is doing really well with no signs of slug damage, so they must be doing something.

At the back of my old house there was a marshy area and we got loads of frogs in the garden. However I was standing at the sink one afternoon, washing a nice lollo rosso lettuce for dinner when out of nowhere I saw it coming for me. A big slimy frog jumping out the lettuce at me! I nearly **** myself!!!

HA! That made me giggle gregmcalister, imagine that.

I get a ton of frogs and toads in my peas - lovely sods like eating all the slugs and small snails i can't get at in the bottom layers. Doesn't hurt that there are ponds on each side of the garden.

I hear that a lot of frogs and toads are dying off because of a virulent virus sweeping through the worlds frog and toad populations. Apparently, Britain is lucky and has a species of either frog or toad which is immune to it.
