Being overwinter ones, they go in later in the year ... about October time, I think. I'm planning to grow some as well, as I haven't tried them before.
Not sure for seeds, I'm planning sets.

I have Senshyu seeds...was about to sow them on Sunday when I noticed the packet said to sow mid-August, so I'll do them in a couple of weeks or so.

Organic...so far!

I'm going to put in some Japanese Onions shortly based on the advice on the back of the packet.

Has anyone got any tips though? Is there anything I shold look out for or should be doing in order to promote growth and protect them?

I'm not sure whether I should be putting them under tunnels to protect from the colder weather or just sticking them in and leaving them....

I'm confused dot com  :?

I have grown Senshyu yellow and Electric (red) for the last 2 years, from sets. They cost £1.49 for 50 sets.

I planted mine a little late last year (18th October), so started them indoors in trays of compost to get the roots and tops going. They have done really well and we've been using them since early June.

I plan to plant sets again this year, probably mid September.

They don't need protection.

I rake some general purpose fertiliser into the soil before planting & then feed again in spring once they really get going.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

We have had a fantastic crop this year, i started them off in modules in the greenhouse then when about 6 inches high transplanted them into the ground. There is no need to do it this way though as you could sow directly into the ground to save messing about, but it worked fine for me

Hi Griffo

Can you tell me where you bought your plants from as the price sounds very reasonable.

MOrph3u5 - I bought them at a local Garden Centre. They were Taylors Choice. I looked in the same place last Friday but they're not in yet.

Still plenty of time to buy/plant sets.
