The ducks are staying!

The two ducks of questionable breed that I acquired to have for a short trial are most definately staying!!! I didn't think I could like anything as much as the hens...BUT...yes, I have fallen totally in love with them and so has husband!

The question I posed at first as to whether thay were reallyboth girls is YES they are ...well they are both laying eggs every day and the one hasnow stopped doing rude things to the other

Yes they do have more mushy poo than the hens but the man who gave them to me assured me it was no problem as it soaks into the grass....well I suppose it does.

They have still neverleft each others side even for a minute, but they get on very well with the hens and rabbits and are just soooooo funny!!!!!!!!!

What a sad  case I am!

Hi Violet,

You're not sad at all.  We had a couple of ducks years ago and we really enjoyed keeping them.  They did get a little on the loud side though, especially when the neighbours quacked at them on their way to the bus stop

Are you reading Poultrygeist's ongoing thread on the mallards?  You may pick up some useful tips.

Carry on enjoying :!:

Nothing mad at all about falling for ducks, you've got loads of company on here. All the best people have them
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

You've just proved you're human !!  :)

If you didn't fall in love with them, you'd have to be an alien

Hope they give you years of entertainment...and eggs.  :D

lol human you are! nothing wrong with that at all! :)

Hubby was quite taken when a couple of ducks looked set to follow us to our car on a walk a few weeks back.. don't think he'd have argued if they'd jumped in! lol
