Well.....I am chuffed...i have got 8 out of 10 eggs in my incy that seem to be doing something...brilliant...thrilled to bits....
Went down to the allotment today and only 3 out of 4 chickens in the run....so i went into the "coop" to investigate fearing the worst for some reason, only to find Harriet sitting on 3 eggs....all fluffed up sort of in a trance. Normally have all four eggs by lunchtime so this was a bit of a suprise. Gave her a stroke and removed 3 eggs assuming she was there to lay her own. Gave her a little privacy (as you do) and came back after 15 mins or so, and there she was, with her egg, sat all fluffed up again.....slid another egg back under her to see what she would do, and there she stayed...and did so until we left and so far as i know is still there (going back down later to check)
So, whats the problem i hear you all ask....well....she is a warren/isa brown/whatever...lol and i was under the impression that they dont go broody hence the 8 growing nicely eggs in the incy!
I am hoping she just fancied a rest as she made no attempt to stop me removing eggs or replacing!!!
I have to admit i would love to have one go broody and see it done naturally....but what lousy timing Harriet!!!
so, what do you all think? Just Harriet having a lazy afternoon?
or something else???
