Leek flowers - can I eat them??

I have half a dozen leeks I let go to flower from last year and they look lovely.

I just took one tiny flower and ate it - very strong flavour for such a tiny flower and a mix between raw salad onion and garlic I'd say. Very tasty.

Anyone know if they are 'officially' edible? Thinking of throwing a few on top of some light pasta tonight but don't want to end up poorly!!!
