Help, what's eating my rocket
« on: July 29, 2008, 16:58 »
In about 24 hours this pot of rocket went from being usable to this.

Tiny holes and discoloured patches, fit only for the compost heap

Sounds like flea beetle.

I've given up on salad leaves for this reason. We seem to be infested with the things. I stick to 'rock hard' lettuce now!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Flea beetle argh.

I have a tray of rocket in the greenhouse which is fine

I 've got some room in the coldframe so maybe I'll try some in there.

Mrs Bowman likes her salad leaves and I have to keep getting brownie points with her

I agree with DD on this one
, I had exactly the same thing happen to mine and also my radishes.
I have treated them once with derris dust(sorry but cant be organic all the time!) and have covered them over with horticultal fleece, now doing really :)

I also have a small pot of nasturtium nearby as I was told that would help.
