here is my 11 yr old son, who like my daughter has got his own veggie patch and is keen to grow veggies as well. (my daughter had the huge radish last week!!)

Wow thats a biggun.  What variety is it, if you can remember?  Looks like my "green salad bowl lettuce".

i think it was a lollo rosso lettuce!
we've had millions of them and its a shame you cant freeze them!! been swapping them with the neighbours for some of their figs!!

it great that the kids are really into the veg plot and one way of getting them to eat it :) really jealous neighbours with figs  :evil: have three trees and one fig on all of them although seems to be a large second crop but doubt we will have the weather for them to ripe, :(  plums are not good neither had no cherries at all :evil:  apples are looking good though and other fruit crops are laden and to much to jam and freeze so pass them on to my neighbours only need a pear tree now  :) jan

thanks aggy, his lettuce was one of our best, we have about another 30 simular ones to that, not quite as big!
