Winter hanging baskets?

Hiya, i have managed with great success to grow all of the flowers for my hanging baskets from seed,(this was my 1st attempt) are there any flowers or greenery that i can grow to put in to my hanging baskets over winter? it would be nice to have some colour or greenery through the winter instead of just empty baskets.

Hi mytoyne, I usually grow winter pansies each year, though we are South and it rarely gets too cold. I even manage to keep several types of geranium going through winter in pots. Not a great one on plants, just like bit of colour around the front door.

You are a bit warmer down south, not sure how well those would survive up north but thankyou for the suggestions.

We plant Winter Pansies and Ivy and Heather is another success.
