Somethings digging up my crops

Hi All

Just wondered if anyone knows of any ways to stop an unknown animal digging up my spuds mainly and more lately other crops?? I think that it might be a mole, badger, or a fox. Any ideas would be awesome as im losing stuff FAST!!!!

Bunch up some chicken wire, then spread it in the problem areas and pin it down in places.

I planted up three huge bags with soil and planted with potatoes and onions plus shallots. went back two days later and a darn fox has ripped open the bags, scattering the soil over the plot and eaten the spuds too. Threw the onions aside though I noted

I'll be interested in whatever ideas other people have. Allotment Officer is non communicado now that the plots have been let and I don't think chicken wire is going to help me as plots are wide open ( no fencing) and no sign of the council actually mending the perimeter fencing at all

the chicken wire is to put on top of the crop area, not to fence it. Foxes won't try digging through bunched up wire, nor will whatever else might be getting into those spots. Pin down the wiring so the animals can't push it aside and they'll find someone else's stuff to dig up.
