can i use this to control the twitch around my crops?

someone told me if i use a small sprayer and go through the rows it will only kill what it touches and is ok for edible crops?

ive got 2 and a half foot spacing in my rows but was thinking id be better leaving it and spraying a patch at a time when its empty.

how long would i have to leave it until i can plant on the ground after treatment?

It can be used at any time when the target plant is growing strongly (so if your crops won't be taken up before say mid autumn, it'll probably be too late for the roundup to work at that point).

Roundup then takes a couple of weeks or more to show that it is working. However, it becomes inert on contact with the soil so there is no delay in planting anything else.

When I worked at East Malling Research Station the farm workers there would use week killer to "spot weed" with. They used a knapsack sprayer and the spray wand had what could be described as an upturned pudding basin on the end to control any drift.

I think just pulling the weeds out by hand or hoeing is easier on an allotment scale of work :!:

I cut the top off an old plastic bottle, makes a good spray hood with a bit of tape etc

i do exactly the same Rich. New2Veg, Roundup is excellent on couch but if you get any drift at all onto your crops it will kill them, it does not take much.
