Hi
  Can you tell me what i can do with salsify.
 also could you tell when celery matures.
                                             Jim
hi New to the veg game .started with a half a allotment run out of room, now got a full one.
saddly my old one is now full weeds .
so much advice on here must say thank to ever one who put toward it.

not sure if you mean growing or eating salsify or which type?
there is a black type called scorzonera which is called salsify or the one that looks like a hairy parsnip, still they are both supposed to be oiled andadded a knob of butter they are supposed to taste like aspargus.
i fry mine like chips {scorzonera} as do i with parsnips.
celery is done when it reaches a good height then chop it off at ground level so the stalks are all together ,not keen on it really.

Oil or boil, that is the question. :lol:

Self-blanching celery will be ready by autumn, though there are some earlier ones, should say on packet. Of course you can take some off younger, should save a bit of a glut. :wink:
