Dear Group Members,

I just went down to the garden after four days of biblical rain and discovered some leaves on a lot of my runner/broad beans (one side of the canes broad and the other side runner) are kind of black and burnt looking at the edges. Any ideas if there is a reason to start panicking? I was just looking at an earlier topic on beans and saw the pictures of of the progress some of you are making. My beans are just flowering (after putting plants, to follow on from the seeds that failed). So I am quite jealous of the plants I see on the photos.

Dear Aunt Sally,

Thanks for the reply but sorry you will have to use your imagination. The plants are still growing and the most prolific ones are starting to flower (still no beans) but as I say there are quite a few leaves with black edges and one that is actually shrivelled and black.

I'm off to bed now and I  hope to wake up to see a message saying there is nothing to worry about!

It could be wet leaves burnt by the sun Anton.

As they are flowering well I think you just need a little patience
