Cucumber question
« on: July 21, 2008, 20:28 »
Wife,(Val...building her part up) started off some cucumbers like she done many times before. However, these have grown thick, large & yellow.

Can't find the seed packet to check the variety. Are these ripe?
Top tip for camping....don't go.

They are over ripe!

Look like a ridge variety & if anything like my over ripe ones, they'll be tough & bitter.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks DD.

Just picked them all. The big yellow one tastes quite nice...must have been lucky. Cheese + cucumber sarnies tommorrow. My fave.

Val has also admitted that, 'Ridge' something rang a bell.   What can you do?

We have cues that are not turning green too..... don´t know why.  We let one get too big and boy was it bitter   I´ve a few growing now, all yellow.... we have had the odd green cue, but the rest are yellow :?
I thought it might be down to the heat.

The bitterness could be down to pollination.  Pick off all the boys
