I read somewher the other day that you can peg the branches down Jeanie into the ground and they'll root.  Thought I've have a go!

As to when probably in the autumn like most other things, but haven't don this before!

Thanks all. I'll be off to scrump cuttings! I know it's probably a bit early but I'll have to get them before someone takes over the allotment they're on. You're not the only one, Jenny B. My family are old hands in wandering off, heads down, hands over their eyes, pretending they don't know me. But it'll be a different story entirely when that gooseberry crumble comes out of the oven!
