Pigeons are birds, so are chickens !

There are  number of other drugs for coccidiosis but only available from vets

Coxoid will treat your chickens.

I was under the impression, it's only chick crumbs that contain the coccidiostats (sp.?) so they can build up immunity before they range as adults.

Couldn't find any info on BOCM site as to whether they do or don't in all the poultry products.

Look on here, down the bottom right of the page under title Vaccinations!

http://www.bocmpauls.co.uk/common/uploaded_files/50799120/farmgate_newsletter_50799120_newsletter4.pdf

I've also got it on the info sheet they sent me when we started to buy their stuff straight from the mill.

Is that just for pullets ie. chick crumbs or do they all contain it ?

I was tempted to feed to the ducks but it would kill them if it does so I held back until I was sure.
It doesn't state on the bag label unless it goes under another name.

Thanks for pointing out. They're very clear about it.

off to bed (busy day tomorrow)

It says Farmgate FEEDS, plural Rob, not just the chick crumb.  I'm not sure what the technical term on the ingredients list is for it though.

Most growers pellets contain coccidiostats? but you can not give them to layers if you are eating the eggs or to table birds within about a week of culling.
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Well I don't know the technicalities, but I'm sure a company as big as BOCM Pauls wouldn't put something in their layers pellets if you couldn't use the eggs, especially as most of the big commercial farms use them, and where meat birds are concerned,  you are supposed to put them on a plain finishing feed for 7 days before culling.

Thanks Kim, I have seen that one, but had forgotten about it.

So I suppose that the amount of anti coccidial in the feed is enough to 'trickle charge' the chooks immunity, but not enough to spoil the eggs??

There are no anti coccidial drugs in the layers pellets that i buy  - assumed it was the same for all, but there are anti coccidial drugs in the chick crumb and growers pellets i have bought. The layers pellets label says stop feeding that a week before culling.

Not all makers of feed put any medication in their feeds at all, and why would you be giving layers pellets to meat chickens?
